Makaya McCraven - Where We Come From (CHICAGOxLONDON Mixtape)

During a 2017 showcase at the famed Total Refreshment Centre in East London, Chicago drummer / producer improvised with some of the hottest UK jazz musicians such as Nubya Garcia, Joe Armon Jones and Theon Cross over two nights in front of the venue audience. As part of the FRESH ROAST program, the music was further remixed / produced live by a roster of multinational musicians such as LeFtO, Ben LaMar Gay and Quiet Dawn. This is not only an exchange of musicianship between the two most burgeoning jazz hotbeds globally, also an opportunity on seeing how beatmaking finds its role in improvised music.
