Bellbird - The Call

A rather unusual album for the Montreal-based Constellation label to release a jazz record, but "The Call" from the quartet Bellbird is no ordinary music. It's compositions are fearless, melodies memorable. A truly collective effort with the ryhthmatic structure often executed by the two reed players, while the song ethos are represented by the drum and bass. This is exciting music forgoing all academic constitutions but retain sufficient constituents to remind all of us that jazz indeed is a free music.
